SubluxationIn simplest terms, a subluxation (a.k.a. Vertebral Subluxation) is when one or more of the bones of your spine (vertebrae) move out of position and create pressure on, or irritate spinal nerves. Spinal nerves are the nerves that come out from between each of the bones in your spine. This pressure or irritation on the nerves then causes those nerves to malfunction and interfere with the signals traveling over those nerves.

How does this affect you?  Your nervous system controls and coordinates all the functions of your body. If you interfere with the signals traveling over nerves, parts of your body will not get the proper nerve messages and will not be able to function at 100% of their innate abilities. In other words, some part of your body will not be working properly.

It is the responsibility of the Doctor of Chiropractic to locate subluxations, and reduce or correct them. This is done through a series of chiropractic adjustments specifically designed to correct the vertebral subluxations in your spine. Chiropractors are the only professionals who undergo years of training to be the experts at correcting subluxations.

Subluxation Detection

The technology used in the Insight Subluxation Station was originally designed to measure changes in the spinal muscles of astronauts and was used on two space shuttle missions to monitor astronaut wellness. The Insight Subluxation Station is now a Certified Space Technology(tm) as awarded by the Space Foundation. At Sutton West Chiropractic we have invested in this state-of-the-art technology to further help our patients on their path to optimal health.

With this scanning technology we are able to objectively evaluate patterns of spinal and nerve function. The test results quantify a patient’s current status and need for care by identifying subluxations or nerve interference. Subluxations in the spine interfere with the function of the nervous system, and if left uncorrected can have devastating effects on human health. Through adjustments chiropractic care corrects identified subluxations. Use of the Insight Subluxation Station with patients is painless, non-invasive, scientifically sound, and easy to understand.

Chiropractic is a means of allowing the human body to operate as it was designed. It is based on the understanding that the body has the innate ability to heal itself. And, when operating at peak efficiency, the human body can do great things. With the identification and subsequent removal of subluxations, chiropractic care is a great vehicle to improve your general health, wellness and function.

The scans we do in our office using the Insight Subluxation Station reflect three separate and distinct measurements that help the chiropractor evaluate your neurospinal health:

The first, Surface Electromyogram (sEMG) tracks electrical signals sent by your muscles that support the spine to reveal patterns of nerve disturbance.

The second test is a Thermal scan uses infrared heat sensors to identify the disturbance of nerve function as it relates to a patient’s organs, glands and blood vessels.
